Alternative title: "Worms?" (US version)
Platform: Commodore 64
Gametype: Undefined
_________________________

'IQ' is based on the classic pen and paper game Dots and Boxes, but instead of drawing four lines connecting dots to make a box, you have to draw six lines (a trail) to connect dots placed at a diagonal angle to complete a territory. To draw a trail, you control a worm-like creature called a SAIL (Super Artificially Intelligent Lifeforms) and you and up to three other computer controlled SAIL's move about the single screen drawing trails to connect the grid of dots.

There are three modes of control over your SAIL and these are New, Auto and Wild. New allows you manual control over your SAIL and once it detects a pattern of movement will take over and repeat the pattern. Auto allows the computer to control your SAIL and to make intelligent moves and finally Wild lets the computer move the SAIL in random directions.

As a SAIL moves it leaves behind a coloured trail and if a SAIL of a different colour touches the trail then it changes to that colour. Once a dot has six trails connecting to other dots then the trail stays that colour for the duration of the game and becomes a territory with a point given to that player. A SAIL cannot cross a trail turned into a territory or move to a dot occupied by another SAIL so if a SAIL is unable to move then it is removed from the screen and game over. Once all SAIL's have ended their game then the amount of points are added up and the winner is the SAIL with the most.

Description from the "Worms?" US packaging:

"A way to think about thinking.
Imagine a new kind of creature, animated but not alive. Synthetic, yet intelligent. A product of modern electromagnetic science.
Imagine that these creatures live in a world where reality is a two-dimensional grid. Without material bodies, they exist as light: pure energy.
Without politics or religion, their lives are an unending adventure in pure mathematics, in music, in geometry.
And now, suppose they're worms. How does their existence affect yours?
Are you charmed, challenged, or careless in their presence?
What is you had to take responsibility for their lives? What if you could reach into their minds to instruct them?
And then, one day, what if you turned them loose in the world?
What then? "
